This install was for a toilet located next to a vanity. A simple workaround for supplying power to a toilet tank mounted Sniffer pump was used to avoid having to install a power outlet inside of the vanity. This workaround may be useful for customers who are renting that may need to uninstall the Potty Sniffer at the end of lease. This option could also work for customers who don’t want to install an electrical outlet inside of their vanity.
For this installation, the sink drain kit (with 1-1/4″ pipe spacer) was used for the air exhaust. A small 1/2″ hole was drilled into the side of the vanity next to the toilet in order to route the air exhaust tubing and power cord into the vanity.
For the power supply, the power outlet cover plate was removed and a small 3/8″ hole was drilled through the wall at the bottom of the outlet box. This hole should be large enough to insert the barrel connector of the power supply. Be sure to turn off power before performing drilling any holes as a safety precaution.
Take a look at the power outlet box to determine which side of the box is fastened to the wall stud before continuing. A 1″ access hole was then drilled inside of the vanity directly under the power outlet and making sure to be on the same side of the stud as the power outlet box. After drilling, feed the power supply cord into the hole beneath the outlet box and use a wire hook to fish for the cord through the vanity access hole.
After routing the air exhaust tubing and power cord into the vanity, zip ties and zip tie mounts (“sticky backs”) were used to secure the tubing and cord running from the toilet to the vanity neatly across the top of the base boards.
