The smart design of the Potty Sniffer system allows for air exhaust lines and control signal cables to be easily incorporated and routed from each toilet to a centrally located Sniffer pump station during new home construction. Standard flexible vinyl (PVC) or polyethylene (PTFE) tubing and 4-conductor flat modular cable (telephone cable) is used for the connections and can be installed as part of the electrical or mechanical build phase of construction. Each Sniffer pump station can service up to three bathrooms and combines the air exhaust of three separate Sniffer pumps into a single 1/2″ sanitary plumbing vent or 1/2″ through wall fitting. Maximum tubing length (distance) from pump station to toilet is 60′ with standard 3/8″ O.D. tubing or up to 125′ with 1/2″ O.D. tubing. A single power supply provides safe 12VDC power to all three Sniffer pumps from a single 120VAC outlet.
A wall outlet plate with air exhaust tubing port and control signal connector port is installed behind each toilet to provide for the remote connections for air exhaust and illuminated button switch.
By locating the Sniffer pump station with the home’s standard HVAC equipment or in the garage, each bathroom can be provided with silent and effective toilet odor ventilation while minimizing the number of exhaust points and power outlets required for whole home coverage. Exhaust air may be routed directly to the building exterior if local codes do not allow for a plumbing vent connection.
Optionally, a relay switch may be used to turn the Sniffer system ON for a set run time whenever the bathroom light switch is toggled. This eliminates the need for a toilet mounted button switch and allows the Sniffer system to be operated automatically while being completely hidden.
